CODY OWEN STINE IS A COMPOSER, LYRICIST, ARRANGER, PERFORMER, MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST, AND MUSIC DIRECTOR WHO WRITES FOR THEATER AND CABARET.
As a composer/lyricist, his work has been seen at Ars Nova, Prospect Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Joe’s Pub, Snapple Theater, New York Theater Barn, Laurie Beechman, Duplex Cabaret, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Second City, LA among others. His musical The Prisoner of Vegas, for which he wrote book, music, and lyrics, was developed at the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop before receiving a full length reading directed by Portia Krieger at Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab. Recently, he was composer/lyricist of five songs for a production of Lysistrata produced by Two-Headed Rep. He is composer/lyricist for numerous one-woman shows with collaborator Amy Albert, whose series of Delilah Dix shows were featured at Ars Nova (ANT Fest and residency), as well as Second City, LA, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
As music director and piano/guitarist, recent credits include Miss You Like Hell at The Public Theater; Robber Bridegroom at Roundabout Theatre Company; Associate Music Director and lead guitar for Cruel Intentions the Musical Off-Broadway; and Associate Music Director/Keyboards for Legendary Romance at Williamstown Theatre Festival. As a Broadway musician he has played Keyboard and Guitars in the bands for SpongeBob Squarepants, Bandstand, Finding Neverland, and American Psycho. Other credits include: dance arranger, co-orchestrator, and MD for For the Last Time (Theatre Row); dance arranger, orchestrator, and MD for Eager To Lose (Ars Nova); and associate MD/conductor for Murder Ballad (MTC and Union Square Theatre).
As the resident cabaret director at the Williamstown Theatre Festival he has directed, arranged, orchestrated, and music directed three seasons of late-night cabarets with performers such as Amanda Seyfried, Justin Long, Jane Kaczmarek, Jessica Hecht, Patricia Lopez, Michael Friedman, and many others.
Cody is a 2019 commissioned artist with the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Upcoming work includes a rock musical based on Heinrich von Kleist’s play Penthesilea. He is a member of the Advanced BMI Musical Theater Workshop and the Dramatists Guild.
